The Student Success Center is expanding! We have been awarded an opportunity to expand our team with three additional staff members: an Early Awareness Advisor, a Career Readiness Advisor, and an Assistant Director at the Student Success Center. The primary goal of the expansion is to support students in temporary housing. Read the DOE’s press release here.
Throughout NYC, students in temporary housing are the ones that receive the least counseling out of all vulnerable populations. At the Taft Campus the need is high for students in temporary housing. Therefore, with a full team giving wrap-around services, the goal is that students are exposed to college/career and being connected to internships, volunteer experience, scholarship and fly-in programs, and many more opportunities starting in 9th grade. Our hope is to see an incredible difference in quality and results.
