Denim Day 2018 Bronx March brings youth and community members together

Once again New Settlement’s Program for Girls & Young Women is collaborating with Bronx Lebanon Hospital to organize a Denim Day Bronx March, taking a stand against sexual assault and victim blaming. Participants and staff from multiple New Settlement programs will join together with community members and march through the streets of our Mount Eden Neighborhood raising awareness about the importance of consent, and declaring the right of all people to safety. The march will step off from the corner of Mt. Eden and the Grand Concourse and wind through nearby streets, accumulating youth program participants along the way. The march will end at New Settlement Community Center, where an event from 5-6:30pm includes tabling, resources, performances and guest speakers. Participating organizations include: BronxCare Health System’s Department of Pediatrics, Bronx Child Advocacy Center, Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, Day One NY, Fountain House Bronx, Her Justice, Kingsbridge Heights Community Center, Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence Program, Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen, NYC Commissions on Human Rights, Safe Horizon Bronx Family Court, Urban Justice Center DVP, Violence Intervention Program, New Settlement After School Programs: Mount Eden Children’s Academy, Bronx Helpers, Creative Leaders After-School Program, Multicultural After-School Program, and the Program for Girls & Young Women. Special Performances by: Kim Seabrook, Next Level Dancers, Mahina Movement and more…
