Irene Rosario, Director of Bronx Helpers, brings over two decades of dedicated service to the organization. Her journey began as a Summer Youth Employment Program participant at the Multicultural After School Program – Summer Camp, where she quickly proved her commitment and passion. Rising through various roles within New Settlement, Irene’s versatility and dedication became evident as she worked across different programs, including childcare for PAC and CASA, co-facilitator of the Program for Girls and Young Women, and Assistant Director at the Creative Leaders After School Program.
Her fluency in Spanish became invaluable as she transitioned to the community center, demonstrating adaptability and a deep understanding of community needs. Recognized for her leadership potential, Irene’s mentors recommended her for successive roles, culminating in her current position as Director of Bronx Helpers.
Throughout her career, Irene has navigated challenges with resilience, including the transition to virtual learning during the pandemic. Her unwavering dedication to the community and commitment to providing essential services have been central to Bronx Helpers’ mission.
Irene’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of community support and personal determination. She grew up in the neighborhood and has been one of the most longstanding members of staff at New Settlement. As she continues to lead Bronx Helpers, Irene remains focused on expanding its impact as a vital community service program, enriching the lives of Bronx residents.
