Courses Available

This training package is specifically designed for construction and demolition workers in New York City. In compliance with Local Law 196 of 2017, the NYC Department of Buildings mandates that workers on job sites overseen by a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager complete 40 hours of safety training.

The courses in this package must be taken alongside the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Program. Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to receive a Worker Site-Safety (SST) Card.

Training Components

  1. 8-Hour Fall Prevention Focus on preventing falls, a leading cause of construction site injuries.
  2. 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness Addressing the impact of substance use on workplace safety.

Exams

  • A minimum score of 75% is required on all quizzes and final exams.

Required Documentation

  1. Current OSHA/DOL card Proof of prior OSHA 30 completion.
  2. Certificate of Completion (if applicable) Not necessary if completed through New Settlement Youthbuild.
  3. Identity Verification Documents Examples: Government-issued ID or equivalent.
  4. Photo For the SST card.

The OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Program is a comprehensive safety course designed for construction workers and supervisors. It focuses on recognizing, avoiding, and controlling hazards in the construction industry, ensuring workplace safety, and compliance with federal OSHA regulations. This course is ideal for individuals in supervisory roles or workers seeking advanced safety knowledge. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Completion Card issued by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

The courses required to to take the OSHA 10-Hour Site Saftey Training Course. Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to receive a Worker Site-Safety (SST) Card.

Training Topics

The course covers essential construction safety topics, including:

 
    1. Introduction to OSHA * Understanding OSHA’s role in workplace safety and workers’ rights.
    2. Fall Protection * Guidance on preventing falls, the leading cause of fatalities on construction sites.
    3. Electrical Safety * Identifying and mitigating electrical hazards on-site.
    4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) * Proper selection, use, and maintenance of PPE.
    5. Hazard Communication * Understanding hazardous materials and safety communication standards.
    6. Scaffold and Ladder Safety * Safe practices when working at height.
    7. Excavation and Trenching Safety * Managing risks in excavation and trenching activities.
    8. Health Hazards in Construction * Addressing issues like noise, silica exposure, and other health risks.
 

Exams

Participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on all quizzes and the final exam to pass the course.

OSHA Card Issuance

Required Documentation to receive your OSHA 30-Hour Completion Card, the following is necessary: Completion of 30 Training Hours Attendance and participation in all course modules. Identity Verification Submission of government-issued ID or equivalent documentation.

Card Issuance Timeline

Cards are typically issued within 7-10 business days after completing the course. Processing times may vary depending on administrative requirements.
