You are welcome and invited to attend our monthly housing workshops and legal clinics, campaign meetings, and general membership meetings!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>COME TO A CASA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: <\/span><\/b>Our Monthly Membership Meetings are the <\/span>third Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm.<\/span><\/i><\/b> All are welcome!!\u00a0 The general meetings always have dinner (served at 5:30 pm), childcare, and professional Spanish\/English interpretation. All CASA General Membership Meetings are held at: the Community Room<\/span>\u00a0at 1514 Townsend Ave between 172nd Street and Mount Eden Avenue, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WORKSHOPS AND LEGAL CLINICS:<\/span><\/b> Want to learn about your rights and how you can get involved to create real change through collective action? Come to any of our monthly workshops to learn and activate your community! We hold monthly workshops and free legal clinics one Saturday per month from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at 35 Marcy Place. WE DEMAND A RENT FREEZE<\/span><\/b><\/a> for the 2.5 million rent stabilized tenants in this city.\u00a0 <\/span>For the first time in the history of NYC<\/span><\/i>, we won a RENT FREEZE in 2015 and for a second time in 2016!\u00a0 Now is the time to keep the pressure up and fight for a rollback! WE DEMAND AN END TO EVICTIONS!<\/span><\/b><\/a> More evictions are filed in Bronx Housing Court than any other county in New York State! For over a decade, CASA has fought for Housing Court to be a place for justice for tenants! We wrote a report called <\/span>Tipping the Scales<\/span><\/a>, we have met with the Office of Court Administration to change policies and procedures so that unrepresented tenants can better navigate the confusing and intimidating housing court process. And in 2017, we got NYC Right to Counsel passed, making NYC the first city in the country to mandate representation in housing court!\u00a0 Now, we are fighting for Right to Counsel in the whole state! We also do outreach in Housing Court most Mondays, hold legal clinics for tenants to best navigate Housing Court, hold press conferences and actions at Bronx Housing Court, and lobby for legislation in Albany!
