Program Overview and Position Description:
The Group Leader implements and develops daily activities for 20 participants, ages 10-11 years old, in New Settlement Apartments Multi-Cultural After School Program (MASP). The Group Leader works closely, assigns and monitors tasks given to the Group Leader Assistant and Junior Assistants. During the after school, we balance academic enrichment and leadership development through hand-on projects and theme-based learning that encourages critical thinking and creativity.
Experience, Education & Skills Required:
Applicants must have experience working with youth (volunteer work will be considered). Knowledge of and interest in the arts, science, engineering, mathematics, healthy living and physical education required. Applicants must have experience developing and leading elementary-school level activities for children; have strong planning and organizational skills; team leadership, behavioral management, and conflict resolution skills; have the ability to supervise in facilitation of daily lesson plans and activities. Teamwork and hands-on teaching ability is a must. College or graduate level student. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus. In order to work with the children, applicants must undergo a background check, in accordance with local regulations.
Salary and Benefits Offered:
The position is a part-time, temporary position for 17.5 hours weekly. Hourly rate: $14.50. Must be available for program time Monday-Friday from 1:45-5:30 p.m. and 12 holidays when the schools are closed from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Planning time hours are flexible. Immediate opening.
Starting date: As soon as possible. Potential opportunity for full-time position during the summer.
